Maui visitor arrivals and spending experience sharp increases so far in 2018. Mahalo!
According to the latest information compiled by the Hawaii Tourism Authority, Maui visitor spending the first quarter of 2018 increased by 13 percent over the previous year to nearly $1.5 billion. Similarly, arrivals to our bejeweled island increased 7.2 percent to more than 708,000 in the first quarter, exceeding the numbers from the same period last year. In March alone, visitor spending was up more than 13 percent to nearly $480 million, an increase bolstered by a 7.5 percent rise in visitor days.
The second quarter of 2018 got off to encouraging start as well, with visitors spending $403 million in May, an increase of nearly 14 percent compared to last year. Visitor spending was supported by increases in visitor days (up 8 percent) and daily spending (up more than 5 percent to $226 per person). We thank all our owners and guests for their support and look forward to seeing you again on your next visit to Kahana Beach.
